Texas Six Pack-January 2024

Texas Six Pack- New Country Music From Texas Area Artists

PODCAST TRANSCRIPT

Hello friends! I’m Sana, and I’m Anna. We’re the ladies of Stone Cold Country with a fresh edition of the #TexasSixPack

This time around there are seven songs from artists with southwestern roots that you should add to your playlists, radio station, blogs and share across social media.

The Texas Six Pack was a feature we created in late 2018 for our former Stone Cold Country radio show.  Due to the incredible popularity of the segment,  in January 2023,we decided to roll it out as a stand alone podcast.

But first a little country music news.

How many of us watched the George & Tammy series? Well, there is a lawsuit now because George Richey’s widow, who by the way owns most of Tammy’s estate. She inherited it when George Richey died. Well she says his portrayal was  “negative and disparaging”. She’s suing Showtime due to a 2019 settlement agreement that allegedly barred Wynette’s daughter, Georgette Jones, from making disparaging statements about Richey. The agreement was not with Showtime, so therefore they can’t be subject to that agreement. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Texas enjoyed one of the nation’s strongest and fastest-growing labor markets in 2023.

The Texas labor market ended 2023 with record-breaking job growth and a robust civilian labor force that helped drive the state to new heights last year, according to the latest employment datafrom the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

All right Texas!

Well let’s kick things off, Louisiana's pride & Joy Tim Mcgraw , One Bad Habit is a sweet song about embracing your loved one, with their flaws and all. Many can relate to being the “wild side” in their partner’s life, and having a bond that’ll (hopefully) never break. Aw, here it goes..

Corey Kent, This Heart  Written by Jacob Hackworth, Michael Tyler, Thomas Archer produced by Christ Farren. A song about how heartbreak and addiction can take a major toll on a person’s soul.  Bixby, OK

Next up is Houston’s Steven Garcia,w/  Ballad of the Working Man

His music was just featured on the indie film Bright Ideas. His debut album will be out this year.

From McKinney, TX.Hudson Ingram, Song About a Vampire The narrator meets a “vampire” at a houseparty; a beautiful mysterious woman whose life is the night and only keeps around men who are ready for a little danger. His debut album is out now, Peace, Love and Paranoia

Brad Miles from Shallowater, TX, w/ Winters. It has that 80’s John Mellencamp feel to it.I think they called it Heartland Rock. Let’s give it a spin.

Cody Johnson, Dirt Cheap, this song is about the things money can never buy

Good story too, here’s Cody.

Checkout our other monthly podcasts like Rewind, where we flashback to epic music from the past, and the pop culture for that year. January’s podcast episode was a stroll through 1950. February we’re exploring 1951 when Lefty Frizzell, and Hank Williams were the Kings of Honky Tonk.

And our New Country podcast for country music at the intersection of hip hop, R&B, and Pop. You can also check out my personal development podcast Do This First, a daily motivational podcast. You can check that out on dothisfirst.life
