Morgan Wallen delighted a sold-out stadium of fans with an impactful, and passionate performance at Chicago's Wrigley Field last night. Morgan, as shared previously, was on doctor ordered vocal rest following a canceled show at Ole Miss
due to a vocal injury. What is even scarier is that Morgan stated that he could lose his voice, if he did not comply with his physician's advice. See video below.
Morgan missed the CMA Fest, and The ACM Awards where he was crowned Male Artist Of The Year due to the hiatus. Hopefully, it is the first of many ACM accolades, and he'll be able to attend the next time. The doctor ordered vocal rest worked because Morgan was in top form for the two night sold out shows in Chicago. Here's a clip from Country Now of one of the Wrigley Field shows.
Morgan's concert comeback was important for several reasons. One reason it was important is that Morgan broke yet another record. Morgan Wallen is the first country artist to sell out two consecutive dates at Wrigley Field. The venue holds over 41000 fans, wow! It was also the first time he sang Stand By Me w/ Lil Durk live at one of his concerts. The song is the rapper's latest single, and features Morgan Wallen on vocals. They seem to be solid friends as Lil Durk was quick to stand up for Morgan in the past, and obviously continues to work with him.
The other very notable event was that Morgan Wallen took some time backstage to help Chicago area kids. Through the Morgan Wallen Foundation, $100k was donated to Chicago's Bessemer Park. The funds will be used to revamp the baseball field where local children play.
The park offers a wide variety of programs for the local community throughout the year. The Foundation's donation will ensure that the baseball themed activities, and programs will continue on. Bessemer Park was established in 1905, and has a rich cultural legacy, and is a family focal point in the South Chicago community.
If you are a fan of kids and Morgan Wallen, please consider donating to the Morgan Wallen Foundation. It's a marriage between Morgan's love for sports, and music, and helping kids find their purpose. He credits both loves with putting him on the right track. Check it out here.
Since Morgan is a daddy it makes sense that he would care about children. Unfortunately, Morgan's son, the incredibly adorable Indigo Wallen did not have a great week. The terminally cute two year old was attacked by his momma's dog. Indigo was bitten on the face, and was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, Indigo had to get stitches, but is doing well. The family pet was a rescue dog, and was rehomed after the incident.
I can't imagine how terrifying it must've been for the sweet little boy, but hopefully he will be all healed up, and running around in no time. The ASPCA is one of the oldest animal welfare charities, and is a trusted go-to source on pets. They offer a variety of services for the protection of pet owners, and animals. Here is a quick list from the organization on how to keep your little loved ones safe around animals. You can also adopt and donate to the organization.
Morgan does have a couple of things to be happy about as One Thing At A Time, his latest album is back at number one after being displaced for the two previous weeks. However, several reports are predicting a top spot take over by another KPop band Ateez.
Some other chart shakeups for Morgan include Taylor Swift now holding the top Artist 100 spot, and Luke Combs currently holds the top slot on the Country Digital Song Sales Chart with the Tracy Chapman remake Fast Car. Things are heating up indeed, but Morgan is still the king on the remaining four Billboard country charts, and on the Songs Of Summer Chart.
It looks like all the canceled shows have been rescheduled, and dates in Michigan, Cali, and Arizona will dominate the next couple of weeks. check out a full listing here. Last Night is the longest-running #1 hit of 2023 and ties for the 2nd longest-running #1 hit of the decade. What will be Morgan's next number one? Maybe this one..
