The devastation of the deadly round of hurricanes this season is nothing short of heart-breaking.The videos and pictures from The Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia remind us of how fragile and tenuous life can be. The death toll as a result of Hurricane Helene is at 227 confirmed deaths. While Hurricane Milton’s mounting fatalities are at 17, so far.
Of course, the entertainment community has leaned in to aid in the recovery efforts. Everyone from Metallica to Morgan Wallen have donated generously to help with relief. Dolly, who like Wallen is a native of Tennessee pledged 2 Million through her businesses as she is a local employer in the region.
Possibly one of the most anticipated relief efforts is coming by way of two of our country music faves: Eric Church & Luke Combs! The "Concert for Carolina" tickets went on sale Thursday, October 10, on the Concert for Carolina website.
Joining Luke Combs, and Eric Church are bluegrass virtuoso and Americana darling Billy Strings, and the legendary James Taylor. The benefit is Scheduled for October 26. The Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina will host the event. This benefit concert is personal as all the performers have Carolina roots.
The Concert For Carolina Hurricane Helene relief to the many impacted by the horrific situation w/ little help from the powers that be, heart-breaking.. Chief shared a stirring message across social media about the event.
"This is my home; it’s in every fiber of who I am. Our family members, friends, neighbors, and communities are in urgent need, I’m honored to share the stage with such an exceptional lineup to help meet those needs. Through the dark, light will shine."
A heartfelt thanks to the Teppers for opening the doors to the Bank of America Stadium for this amazing event. All proceeds from the benefit concert will be equally distributed between Combs' charitable initiatives and Church’s Chief Cares Foundation.
And as if the show wasn’t enough, The Chief is going above and beyond by releasing a new song titled “Darkest Hour” on October 4. He is donating all publishing royalties from this song to support the people of North Carolina impacted by the disaster.
UPDATE: The song is #1 in the all genre digital sales, way to go!
Even if you can't attend the show, buy the tickets as all the money will go towards helping those impacted by the hurricanes. You can also gift the tickets. There are several charities involved with this benefit including one of my favotites Samaritan's Purse.
Also, the list of performers coninues to grow. Here are the performers confirmed for the event, so far:
Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Luke Combs, Bailey Zimmerman, Billy Strings and James Taylor..
The area will need ongoing support as the hit to the infrastructure of the region is substantial. I've listed some additional ways to help below.
