Cirque du Soleil Goes Country

Cirque du Soleil has captivated audiences with their unique blend of dance, music and artistic acrobatics for 40 years! Founded by two street performers, Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix, in Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec, Canada, the concept behind Cirque du Soleil was to blend theatrical arts with circus performance, moving away from traditional circus acts.

Now they are turning their amazing talents to showcase country music from yester years to now with the country themed groundbreaking show SongBlazers. The company has garnered immense popularity worldwide for its innovative performances that captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds. One of Cirque du Soleil's most famous and popular shows is "O", which premiered in 1998 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. "O" is known for its water-themed spectacle, combining synchronized swimming, diving, and acrobatics in a mesmerizing aquatic extravaganza.

The iconic and award winning company debuted their country themed spectacle in Nashville this past week. 35 songs that showcase the growth in country music through the years were highlighted. Garth Brooks Friends In Low Places was especially memorable as it was a massive crossover hit and ushered in the 90’s country music renaissance.

SongBlazers is an immersive stroll down memory lane with the help of two songwriters celebrating the stealthy legacy of country music. Cirque du Soleil has received numerous accolades, awards, and positive critiques for its innovative performances and contributions to the world of entertainment. Some of the notable accolades include:

Emmy Awards: Cirque du Soleil productions have won multiple Emmy Awards for outstanding artistic and technical achievement in various television specials and performances.

Drama Desk Awards: The company has received Drama Desk Awards for unique theatrical experience, outstanding sound design, and outstanding lighting design for its shows on Broadway.

Thea Awards: Cirque du Soleil has been honored with several Thea Awards from the Themed Entertainment Association for excellence in themed entertainment, attractions, and experiences.

The company has built a loyal fan base and garnered widespread popularity globally, with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. This new country themed extravaganza is bound to bring new fans to the music. I could see where this could work for other genres such as Rap/Hip Hop, and Jazz..

Cirque du Soleil holds several Guinness World Records, including the record for the largest theatrical production in the world for their show "KA" at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The country themed SONGBLAZERS is currently on tour. Purchase tickets online at www.cirquedusoleil.com/songblazers.
